Mosquitos can be a huge problem. They can carry diseases that can affect animals and people. While that is the worst-case scenario, the more common result is that you are going to end up with bites that make you itch. These bites often bleed and can even become infected. That means that you want to do everything you can to avoid them or get rid of them. So, what are some things that you can do to control these bothersome insects?
Get Rid of Standing Water
Mosquitos need to have standing water so that they can breed. If you get rid of the standing water, there are no places for them to breed, which will cut down on the number of new mosquitos showing up at your house, as well as mosquitos that are looking for the best place to breed. Check all possible places for the standing water and either dump it out or cover it. That can include places like your birdbath and even standing water in dishes under potted plants.
Spraying/Misting Systems
Another thing that you can do is invest in an automatic spraying or misting system. These systems will have a spray in them that can mist out over the area at a specific time or for a specific period. You can put all kinds of sprays in the systems. For example, you could put something like a citronella spray in them. The citronella spray can help to keep mosquitos away from you when you are outside and shouldn't be a problem for you to be around, but you might want to make sure that the spray or mist isn't going to be right over where you are going to be sitting. You could also put an insecticide in the misting system so that it will kill the mosquitos or the larvae. You might want to make sure that you aren't going to be outside when you have an insecticide because some of those chemicals aren't necessarily pleasant to be around.
If you want to be able to spend time outside at your house and you have all kinds of mosquitos, there are things that you can do in order to get rid of the mosquitos or at least keep them under control so that they aren't going to drive you crazy while you are outside. An automatic mosquito misting system can make your yard much more pleasant to be around.
